Join us for the 17th Annual Komen South Florida Race for the Cure® in scenic downtown West Palm Beach. Our race route is along the beautiful Intracoastal Waterway on Flagler Drive and is the largest 5K run/walk of its kind in the Southeast United States. Over 30,000 participants and supporters are expected at this year’s event.
The South Florida Affiliate has devoted significant resources to reduce breast cancer incidence in South Florida by funding education and early detection programs. In the past 6 years, the South Florida Affiliate has awarded over 6 million dollars to local non-profit hospitals and organizations that provided breast health education, breast cancer screening, biopsies and cancer treatment. Thanks to the amazing support from our community and sponsors, thousands of culturally diverse people are receiving life-saving mammograms and cancer treatment services as well as important breast health education throughout our community.
We are extremely proud that up to 75% of the nearly $1.7 million raised from the South Florida 2007 Race for the Cure® has gone back to our own community to fund research, education, screening and treatment programs through our grants process. Our Affiliate also directs 25% of the fiscal year income donations toward Komen National for cutting-edge breast cancer research. These funds are used only for breast cancer research without attaching any administrative costs.
